Our home planet is 4.6 billion years old. The atoms that Earth, and everything on it, are made of are even older!

The uncountable collection of different atoms found in and on Earth were formed at least 5 billion years ago during a complex series of nuclear fusion reactions.

Hopefully you are now wondering where all of Earth's atoms were formed if our solar system did not exist 5+ billion years ago. The answer lies in the stars!

All of the different atoms on Earth (and beyond) were formed inside the core of ancient stars, and during extremely powerful and violent exploding star events called, "supernovas".

Hopefully you are wondering, "Does this mean that the atoms that I am made of are older than the planet I live on?" The answer is as astounding as it is simple: Yes!

"Forged in the furnaces of ancient stars, the atoms that all Earth's matter is made of are billions of years old - and they will last forever!" - Me
