BLOG POST #000

Introduction to Science Help for Science Students

I was a retired middle school science teacher (chemistry and physics) with a little too much time on my hands until I decided to un-retire here. Thanks for taking the time to visit. It is my sincere hope that your time spent perusing this site will be well worth your while.

My goal is simple: to help students to be more successful in their science classes by providing resources and advice that goes above and beyond most traditional classrooms and textbooks - and especially help that will supplement remote, on-line instruction from your science teachers.

The Next Generation Science Standards will prove to be extra challenging for students in any one of the 20 states that have adopted them. Hopefully, my familiarity with the NGSS will help to uncover the basic science content that is often hidden by the way these performance standards are written or in the way they are presented as discovery-based, problem solving activities. Critical to success in the NGSS classroom is having the proper background knowledge, which is where this blog should prove to be invaluable.

As this blog evolves, I hope to tweak it in ways that it becomes as user friendly and as user helpful as possible. So, your suggestions, feedback, and requests will all be greatly appreciated. Feel free to use the Contact page to ask for help with any specific science topic. I can respond privately by email or I may use your question (with permission) as the start of a new post. All identities and visitor emails will be kept private.

So, let the journey begin! And best of luck in the new school year - with all your classes.

Yours truly,

The Un-Retired Science Teacher
